The old gels lasted about 10 years old, not bad, but time to retire them. Bryan, ever digging for the latest info, found Fireflies, Carbon foam AGM – Group 31. Three instead of the 2 gels. different sizes so not just a battery swap, a rebuild of the battery box/bin. Big job, living on 110 only. (May 2016 while in Bocas Del Toro, Panamá)

Noticed electrolyte build up on 2 of the Fireflies. Bruce of Ocean Planet Energy said it was OK, just keep it clean and they would last the same. But since they are new, he'd send us replacements, don't worry about returning the leaky ones. (March 2016). Wow, that is great service.

Due to our traveling, we had the replacements sent to Jacksonville. They arrived while we were in Vancouver/San Isidro (July 2017). So 2 years later we swapped batteries (March 2018).

Since Bruce did not want the 2 original batteries returned and we did not have room them and they are still fully functioning work-as-good-as-new batteries we gave them to some dear friends. After these 2 batteries sat around for over 3 months before being taken to their new home, they're still 100% charged. How sweet is that?
