Radar & Chart Plotter 2018

As we bounce our guts out leaving Bocas at the end of 2016, our radar died. We tested before untying from the docks, but oh well. Though it was lousy conditions, there was no fog so not having radar was not a worry. But with plans to head up in to Maine, the Canadian Maritimes and maybe Newfoundland. Fog 11 months of the year, so radar may be a good idea. We opted for D&G's Vulcan 9 and G3. More reasonably priced than the 4G (which is reported to be amazing) and ability to mirror with our iPads. Also Fugawi as an iPad chart provider has left us a but weary as charts disappear off the device when they shouldn't. Yikes!

Though I don't have pictures of the whole process, let me assure you, there was a lot of crawling into lockers and the quarter berth, wiring, un-wiring of old, cussing and such, but all good as it ended with a happy dance. The UI is so much easier than the old Simrad and the mirroring is very nice.
