Yes, the Radar dome was deemed no bueño by the Navico tech and our extended West Marine warranty made it possible to just swap for a new dome instead of a lengthy repair process which includes shipping to repair facilities in Mexico. But it also means a refresh of the extended warranty for an additional $94usd. Coming and going.

Anyways long wait for calm weather in anchorage to lower Radar pole and take the dome in. Loaded into a laundry bag, rowed and bused our way to West Marine. The box for the replacement is huge, so we Ubered it back.

Install was fraught with frustration. Found chafe on VHF antenna which was replaced with several more West Marine visits. It was 20 yo. Reception is much improved, though the radio, also 20 yo is not sending. Since we have not used it in about 5 years, relying in handhelds, we'll upgrade to AIS/VHF later.

The radar is still finicky. Works if you turn on Chart plotter first, then the Radar and wait about 2 minutes for it to kick in. pretty lame for a $2400 system.
