Water! 2015

December 2015
All repairs are to address a problem. For this DIY project, the problems include the loss of suction power in the fresh water system, as the tank water level dropped, the amount of water throughput lessened, first nothing on recover stroke of the foot pump, then a dribble if that on the down and recover strokes before the tank is emptied. 2nd, chunks of algae even though there are filters after the tanks. Finally, the fill side was a dribble after going through the paper, carbon and UV filters. Multiple symptoms, most likely as a result of poor maintenance. So what to do?
1. replace the pick up and gasket in the aft tank to improve suction and access to the bottom of the deep tank. Check
2. move the vent from outside coaming to galley sink – done.
3. replace hose upstream of the post tank filters. Done
4. replace stopper and o-ring in the diverter valve. Done (after 2 years)
5. clean out little filter close to tank – checko.
6. Replace filters post tanks. – done.
7. Replace filters feeding the UV filter. Done and done!
