August 2013

Cedral is a community 24km SW of San Isidro de General, the road there is rough, needing a 4 wheel drive. But is beautiful country side, denser forests and hillier. A friend drive us up to Warner's farm where is has dairy cows and is part of the local coffee coop. We got a kilo for 6000 colones (about $12), very flavourful light roast. So delicious because not only is it shade grown, but picked ripe for roasting. The vast majority of coffee in NA is picked a bit green, economic reasons and over roasted to get any flavour our of the young beans. Marketing has convinced the NA market that dark roast is a show of quality.
