Panamá Spring 2014

How the time flies. Here we are in Panama by Copernicus. After 10ish days of making our way east and a bit south from Costa Rica, we pull into Panama City, the first sky scrapers since leaving Vancouver, it is amazing, hectic after quiet remote anchorages. We then transit the canal, check out that gallery for pictures, then westward in the Caribbean Sea for Bocas Del Toro. From there we fly out to Vancouver over Costa Rica and Mexico's beautiful Vermillion Sea.

A small country of incredible contrast. Huge focus on the canal, access to and from, the running of it and of course the revenue, but outside of the city, less than 200 miles away, there are Panamanians that have limited access to goods and services, asking for basic stuff like gasoline for their pangas and canoes and luxury items like candies from cruisers. One fellow in Bahía Honda asked if we could shop for cloths in Panama City for him and his family and ask other cruising heading west to bring it to him, they simply had no way to get at these goods themselves.
